Tues, Nov 18th

First, I would like to say thank you for all the kind words, prayers and words of encouragement that all of you sent. I won't be posting anything else to FB so hopefully you saved the blog address if you want to check in on me.  I heard some good advice and it is nice to feel some support.  It's easy to feel alone and think you are the only one in this but then when you realize the network of friends around you it takes a lot of the pressure off. 

My doctors office called back yesterday.  Before 2 pm even!  I was told that if the staples didn't look infected, if I couldn't push on my belly and make the oozing worse or if I wasn't running a fever it could all wait until my appointment time on Wed.  I'm so impressed. 

Tomorrow I see both the doctor and the wound care/ostomy nurses.  Those ladies are terrific.  In fact they are the ones who explained to me how my stoma was made and how it would be put back.  Jim's sister, Brenda is going to take me.

This morning I got up and got in the shower.  I actually made it through the shower, barely.  I was trying to dry off when my stomach goobed (for lack of a better word) and got all over my towel.  Soaking wet, I am trying to get into the hall to get another towel and running out of energy fast.  I finally got myself settled on the toilet lid, icky towel on my stoma, trying to dry off the rest of me with the other one and get my hair wrapped up.  Had to just sit for a few minutes.  I still had to get all the appliance pieces together so I could cut them to fit and get them adhered before I could move around.  Got all that done and went across the hall to our room and flopped down across the bed. Not sure how long I stayed there.  My hair was still wrapped in a towel.  I have taken to blow drying only my bangs and then giving up.  I headed to the kitchen for some yogurt and then to the couch for a couple hour nap.  When I woke up, I discovered that I must not have had my bag adhered correctly because I had gunk all over my clothes.  I hate putting these bags on.  It is so gross.  I have only one extra to get me through till my appointment tomorrow so I hope I have this one on correctly.
