Since I last wrote a lot has happened in my tiny little life. For starters, Spooky Ballet was a blast! We went out to eat with Paul's parents after the performance. I also found an outfit for Britt's wedding that weekend too. And so did Rylee!
I had my colonoscopy scheduled yet another week out and in the meantime did a weigh in. Down 18 lbs as of 10-26!! Can I get a WOOT WOOT! Feels good! I was told by a friend that I should measure and I haven't so that might be my next step. The only downfall was that it showed my muscle mass had been compromised. So I am increasing my proteins and exercising.
Took the family for flu shots on the eve of the 25th. This in itself was a big night and we didn't have a clue it was coming at us. When we pulled into the high school (flu shot clinic) an ambulance followed us in. Apparently a theater student, a girl, had fallen in the bathroom. They took her out on a stretcher and we said a quick prayer for her and her family. Little did we know. She had suffered an aneurysm and was on life support but all tests showed a lot of damage. My little community was rocked and hard. Everything stood still. Parents sobbed at the loss and the awareness that it could be anyones' child-even their own. Kids from West Fargo, South Fargo, North Fargo were all posting on facebook and consoling each other. And the tears, so many tears. Classes all but ceased and counseling took over. Even my confirmation kids (who are much younger) had questions and needed to talk and pray. Erin went to the hospital to see her family and to the memorial service that was held on Fri eve. The school district shuttled the kids from the high school. There were between 1200 and 1400 people there. When I say it rocked us, I mean it.
Remember this all happened on Tues. We went to bed not knowing about Erin's classmate and I had an allergic reaction to the flu shot overnight. Yep, it was fun! Tongue swelled, lips swelled, eyes swelled; it was so ugly. Again, in hindsight, I should have gone to the ER but I chose to sleep it off. I have a flu shot every year, who knew it could do that?!
Had my colonoscopy a few days after the shot fiasco. That went well-I guess. The prep is awful and I didn't get any sleep, but it was do able. The procedure was a breeze. You aren't even with it. The results are all related to my Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) that I have had for some 15 years. I am going to try to increase my fiber intake and see if it changes anything.
About 4:30 the next morning I went to WI to visit my mom and sister. We had a great visit. I got some cleaning done and some errands run for her. Hopefully I helped my sister out a little bit. On the way home I detoured an hour or so and went to visit my Aunt Mary in Cannon Falls, MN. Of course, I got lost trying to find her house. (I roll my eyes here) I can get to it from the west but not the east--REALLY?! I cannot believe I truly am that lame, but I am. Had a quick visit with her and her family and then back on the road. About 2 hours into my trip home and over 100 miles away from home I ended up with car trouble. In a panic, I called Jim. 100 miles away--what exactly did I think he was going to do about it? No clue. I did everything the two of us could think of. I pushed this, tried that. Finally turned the car off and let the computer reset. After that I had only the check engine light on so off I go to limp the rest of the way home. Sadly, I repeated the above procedure numerous times and my 2 hours of drive time turned into 3 or more. Thankfully it is under warranty and is ready to pick up!
In a nutshell, I need to post more often so that I have less happen at a time. Yikes! It has been a whirlwind of activity. I think I weigh in again next week so I will post again then for sure, possibly before.
I am grateful today for:
my community
my church
my life and everything that goes right or wrong in it.
Till next time!
